Happy New Year!!

Year of the Ox's supposed to be a good year for Rats........ We'll see. :D

My "New Year cookies" came out good. :D Bringing them to work tomorrow... YUM!

Slumdog Millionaire @ Golden Globes!

Won all 4 categories it was nominated for: Best director (go Danny Boyle!!), best screenplay (Simon Beaufoy, who also wrote The Full Monty, another awesome British movie :D), best score and best drama! Yes!!

A few winning/nominated movies I wanna see...

-The Wrestler
-In Bruges (has been on my Netflix queue forever...)
-Wall-E
-Last Chance Harvey

I might see the other great movies, Revolutionary Road/The Reader/Gran Torino... But I haven't been in the mood for serious drama genre lately... (Esp ones that leaves you wondering what the point of living is...) Benjamin Button might be interesting too but, again, haven't been feeling the urge to see it. And I'll have to admit I can't take Brad Pitt very seriously. (I'm sorry! I don't know why!)

Cooking Time!

Yep, I somehow magically managed to not cook anything (except instant ramen) until the 6th day of the year. And then a sudden mid-afternoon craving of spaghetti brought me back to the stove.

Spaghetti with my own meat sauce! )

Sayonara, 2008; Hajimemashite, 2009

The goal this year, well, is to continue working towards my goals! - Continue to go to the gym, continue to watch what I eat, continue the 100 pushup plan. Continue to draw (enough to put a website up for :p), to watch all that movies I promised myself and others to watch...

And pick up the slack of my other goals - start studying Japanese again (JLPT Level 2, hopefully!), start cooking again (real cooking, besides just huge pots of curry), and maybe I should get the Yamaha P85 I've been looking at.

Hope this year's gonna be busy - good busy (not just work busy!).

Nice to meet you, 2009. :)

Colored!

My first colored Copic marker experiment. :D

Kinda rough still, needs some fixing up.

You got red on you... )

My scanner desaturated the colors a lot more than I expected. I photoshopped it back but still not quite the same. Wonder if it's some setting I can mess with.

*horror*

Man, so apparently I owe NY taxes! :O
My guess is my company deducted less the few months I was in HK because I didn't have an NY address.
But tax preparation ppl is filing me as a full-year NY resident.
Sucks! Because now my Fed refund check is pretty much just cancelling what I owe NY. :(
Well, I know... It's the same thing... Deducted less -> Less Refund = Deducted more -> More refund...
But... But... Man!

Another horror... My tax guy left a message on my phone telling me to change my name!
My 16-character long legal first name broke their system (their max is 15), so they can't e-file for me. T_T
Paper file = I have to actually go mail the crap myself!
Damn it!

And I didn't realize how much taxes I have to pay...
Last year I only worked full-time half a year, so it didn't really hit me. (and only paid NYC part year)
But... Wow, this sucks. :(

I kinda rather I was paying taxes to my own city (no country tax) to be used by my own people.
...Alright, it's mostly because income tax is so low... (capping out at 15%, not to mention all the exemptions... :D)

I hate being treated like an idiot by some idiot!! >_< >_< >_< >_<

Why do some people just go around trying to make others feel stupid?!

Found unlimited free supply of painkillers - Advil, Tylenol, Moltrin, Aleve - in office! Happy! (well, as happy as someone who needs painkillers can be)

Also makes me wonder how many work hours do they really expect us to put in....?

Don't wanna go into details, but here's a part of my crappy day.

As part of my project, Project A, I changed Foo.
Project B was overseas teammate's huge project (which I had no idea about).
Boss in charge of both Projects A and B.

Today, Foo caused the world to fall apart.
Boss immediately assumed Project A broke everything.
Upon investigation, we found out it was because Project B needed to change Foo, but the change was never made.
Project B's teammate was half the world away, so I made Foo's change for Project B (and repaired world, fixed client's issue, everybody happy).

An hour later boss forgot what I fixed.
By afternoon he forgot Project B involved Foo.
I know by tomorrow he only remembers Project A and Foo, and therefore, Project A broke Foo.

...

I just hope this doesn't end up on my rap sheet.

...What to look forward to now?

Feeling so bleh.

Mar. 19th, 2008

Well Well Well...

It's very sad, but this made my day:

And now the one-day-old Governor Patterson too?
I'm not a big believer of righteous man/woman = good politician.
But dude, if you're not smart enough to keep your dirty little secrets, are you sure you're smart enough for politics?
Even Stripper-American Idol managed to keep it hush-hush for a few weeks.
Geez.

Well, at least these guys are getting some up in Albany. (Good for them, I guess?)

Volume Testing...

...Sucks. It's like watching paint dry. Without knowing whether the paint will actually dry.

How long am I gonna be stuck staring at my screen?!

Oops, overslept.

Curse you, daylight savngs!

Luckily my boss is on vacation and no one ever needs me in the morning. :p (if only, then I won't be assigned new tasks/asked for help at 7pm).

Now that no more mom-cooking, back to counting calories.
